At Advanced Eyecare Professionals, we take pride in our comprehensive vision and eye health evaluations. Through state-of-the art computerized testing, pretesting by our certified medical assistants, and careful examination by Dr. Hogan or Dr. Steinmetz, we assess our patients visual system and determine what type of visual correction is best recommended for each individual patient. Visual correction may include glasses, contacts, laser vision correction, or corneal refractive therapy.

Further evaluation continues with what Advanced Eyecare Professionals feels to be the most important part of the examination, the eye health evaluation. Specialized testing including glaucoma testing and dilated fundus examination is performed to evaluate the health of the eye. The eyes are the “windows to the body”, and it is our goal to evaluate all patients, regardless of age, for any signs of systemic disease. Common systemic conditions detected on a routine eye examination include:

• Diabetes
• High Blood Pressure
• High Cholesterol
• Impending stroke and heart attack
• Neurologic Disease including Multiple Sclerosis and Brain Tumors
• Autoimmune disease including systemic lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and sjogren’s syndrome

Dr. Hogan and Dr. Steinmetz are the primary gatekeepers for many of their patients, and work very closely with area physicians and sub-specialists to ensure complete care for all patients.
